As we all know, long flights really suck. Strong AC, and tiny seats. No one likes flying for long hours. But as a consultant, I have to commute by plane every week for work. Although it took awhile to get used to this lifestyle, I have finally mastered the art of keeping myself comfy during long flights. In today’s post, I am going to share my 10 best travel essentials and sustainable travel clothes.
My 9 Best Travel Essentials and Sustainable Travel Clothes for Long Flights
From electronics to skincare products to sustainable fashion, below are the travel essentials and sustainable travel clothes I actually bring and wear to the airport.
Bose Noise Canceling Headphones
If you were to bring only one thing to the plane, take these Bose QuietComfort 35 Wireless headphones. These babies are my No.1 travel essential for long flights. They block out all kinds of static noise. With the right music playing, you can sleep like a baby on the plane no matter what.
Crying babies? Snoring monsters? No longer a problem with these headphones.
If you are sensitive to light, bring this sleep mask with a contoured shape. It’s a travel essential for long flights because you sleep way deeper and better in the dark. I especially love this sleep mask with a contoured shape because it doesn’t press on my eyes and allow me to sleep deeper.
Lip Balm & Face Cream
Dehydration is one of the most common issues for long flights. If you have room, you should definitely bring an empty water bottle to the airport. I usually just buy a water bottle there because my carry-on is usually jam-packed.
Besides drinking water, I regularly put on lip balm and moisturizer throughout my trip. I love wearing tinted lip balm and tinted moisturizer because they give me some colors. Here are my personal favorites:
Besides electronics and skincare products, comfy traveling clothes are a must for long flights! I don’t think my airport fashion is the height of my style, but it is for sure comfy and sustainable! I recommend this Patagonia nano puff jacket. It is warm and easy to pack! If you want other sustainable traveling clothes, I recommend Everlane cashmere cardigan and Alternative Apparel eco-fleece. Both are incredibly soft and light weight, making them great sustainable travel clothes for long flights!
During your flight, it’s important to stand up regularly and walk around often to keep your blood flowing. Additionally, you can wear a pair of medical grade compression socks. In some serious cases, travelers, even the healthy ones, get blood clots because they don’t walk around often enough. While it’s rare, blood clots are not something you want to risk getting to ruin your trip!
I don’t know about you, but I can never sleep well with a wired bra. For cute wireless bras, I recommend these sustainable bralettes from Naja. They are affordable and made ethically with sustainable fabrics!
Soft and Breathable Tops
I prefer wearing a basic T for long flights. I personally own soft T-shirts from these two sustainable fashion brands: Alternative Apparel and Threads for Thought. But I heard Cuyana has some amazing sustainable traveling clothes too!
As I’ve told you before, my travel fashion is not the height of my style. I love wearing track pants for long flights, and these track pants from Adidas are incredible.
Closed Toe Shoes
Toms shoes are excellent for traveling, Personally, I wear my bulkiest shoes to the airport so that I don’t have to pack them and waste space in my carry-on. I recently bought a pair of white sneakers from Toms, and they look good and travel well. For every pair of Toms sold, Toms donates a new pair of shoes to children in need. What a great cause, right?
So this is the end of my travel essentials and sustainable travel clothes for long flights! There are definitely cuter clothes to wear, but in my opinion, it’s far more important to feel comfy than to look cute for long flights. If you are taking a long flight or two this summer, I hope you find this list helpful! Have fun and safe travels!
